Vegan food Swap Box - December - Part 2

OK, so I'm one day late posting this, but yesterday just seemed to fly by and before I knew it I was falling asleep on the sofa, trying to watch the final series of breaking bad!

I still have so much to do for Christmas, bake cakes, make the bread sauce, make my vegan main (or even have an idea!), make my chestnut and mushroom soup for the Christmas dinner starter and make my parsnip and butternut squash bake for a side. All this and wrap the presents and even make some, but more about that later. I don't want to spoil the surprise for those who are getting my hand made present and its not food!

I still have some Christmas shopping to do but looking outside at the weather I really wish I didn't have to go out now! At least my food shop was done yesterday and that was a nightmare!

Anyway enough of my whinging, this post is to tell you what I received in my December vegan swap box from Christine. I sent Christine a vegan swap box in March so it was really nice to receive one from someone I had already swapped emails with. This one was different to all that I had received before as it contained products from around Europe and none of which I had tried before.

Christine had kindly applied post it notes to all the products, so I knew what they were and how to prepare them.

There were two savoury items, a mustard and rocket spread from Germany which I can't wait to dive into, and some Italian home-made pizza seasoning, which will be used on my next home made pizza.

The sweet items included:

- Sprinkles for bread from the Netherlands
- Drink mixes from Poland
- Jelly mix from Poland
- Soy dessert from Spain
- Cappuccino chocolate from Germany

I'm hoping to save the chocolate for Christmas day, but my hopes are not high! I'm going to attempt making a vegan trifle with the jelly and sprinkles, so watch this space.

The drink mixes look tempting too, I wonder if I could make a non-alcoholic cocktail with them?

As you can see a very European box of goodies and I can't wait to try using them over the Christmas break. Thank you Christine for a fabulous box of vegan goodies.

Vegan food Swap Box - December - Part 1

Yep, its time for the monthly vegan food swap box again! This time I was sending a parcel to Kadian who lives in Middlesex. I was guessing that Kadian would have access to more vegan products than I do up here in the midlands in the small town where I live.

So to jazz it up a little and of course because it's Christmas I wrapped every item up in wrapping paper!

Once again I chose both sweet and savoury items to send and because it's Christmas I sent one more sweet item than savoury! The sweet items included:

- Bounce Natural Energy Ball - Spirulina
- and Ginseng Defense Boost
- The Co-op After Dinner Mint Thins
- A tube of Love Hearts
- Jamesons Ruffle Raspberry Fondants
- Goody Good Stuff Sour Fruit Salad
- Mini Moos - Original Organic Chocolate Bar

When I first saw the Co-op mint thins I was ecstatic, it meant that our family Christmas dinner could still be followed with an after dinner mint. I'm sure these taste better than any non vegan variety.

After all that sugar, I had to include a Bounce Defense Boost, these are so darn tasty and as a bonus contain the superfoods, spirulina, Ginseng and Fo-ti Root.

The savoury items included:

- The Spice Taylor - Southern Pepper Curry
- Merchant Gourmet Whole Chestnuts
- Weight Away - Mixed Vegetable Chilli
- No No Guacamole Flatbreads
- Walkers Sweet Chilli Nuts

I absolutely had to include some chestnuts, these beauties play such a large part in Christmas. Recipe ideas include chopping and including with sprouts as a side dish, chop and add to your stuffing, add to stews, make into a pesto or chop and add to cakes. They really are so versatile.

After you have enjoyed your Christmas dinner you don't normally want much for tea. I think the No No guacamole flatbreads dipped in houmous is a perfect solution. These really do taste of guacamole and could be served with a range of dips, olives and a little salad.

After all that indulgence on Christmas and Boxing day I normally fancy something a little spicy and The Spice Taylor do a range of flavours, including two vegan options. I've not yet tried the curry pastes but the packaging states that you can whiz up a curry in 10 minutes! Perfect after you've spent days in the kitchen preparing the Christmas dinner - or is that just me?

I hope Kadian enjoys the vegan food parcel as much as I enjoyed putting it together.

Merry Christmas!

Find out what amazing goodies I received tomorrow . . . . . .

Vegan Food Swap Box - November - Part 2

Yesterday I shared with you what I sent Sammy @cleaninggirl for the November vegan food swap box. Today I will share with you what I received from Ben @onewellnessben and what a box of goodies it was!

I was over the moon to find that Ben had included a block of Vegusto Cheese! I've been meaning to try this for ages but not got round to buying any, I've heard a lot of good things about this make of vegan cheese. Just need to think of a meal which will do it justice! Watch this space . . . . . . . .

Ben also included 4 packets of linwoods seed of different flavours. I had a choice of:
  • Flaxseed, Cocoa & Berries
  • Flax, Sunflower, Pumpkin & Sesame Seeds & Goji Berries
  • Flaxseed, Almonds, Brazil Nuts, Walnuts & Q10
  • Hemp
I actually bought a big packet of shelled hemp seeds when I visited the Wolverhampton Vegan Festival and they are nearly gone so this packet has arrived just in time. The flax seeds will be used very shortly in some baking recipes I'm sure, if they haven't been sprinkled over my breakfast before hand!

Other savoury items included Chilli Miso Ramen Noodles, in a previous vegan swap box I received a packet of Green Tea Miso Ramen noodles which were delicious so I hold high hopes for the chilli version. There was also a packet of Clearspring Snack Organic Tamari Roasted Cashew Nuts, which again I've never tried. I still think it is amazing that I receive something new every month that I've never tried before. Most of it I now buy on a regular basis if I've been able to hunt it down!

And by no means least the sweet items, which included an Ombar Green Tea & Lemon Chocolate, gosh doesn't this sound delicious, I can't wait to tuck into this, infact it will be my treat for today! Ben tells me that the Riolife bar is imported all the way from Australia so this must be bloomin' good! Can't wait to try it.

All in all, I think you will agree, my vegan swap box is pretty amazing. Thank you Ben for a fabulous box of goodies, I hope you received a good one in return!

Vegan Food Swap Box - November

Phew the monthly vegan food swap box comes round quicker each month, I'm sure. This month I was sending to Sammy who's known in the twitter world as @cleaning girl. For those of you who are not with the programme here's what happens. Every month tohappy vegans, who organise the swap box (thank you!) assign you a partner to send a parcel of vegan goodies to and in return you will receive your own parcel of surprise delights from someone else. It really is good fun and its like getting a birthday every month!

Because of the time of year I couldn't resist sending a vegan advent calendar. I hope Sammy enjoys her vegan chocolate breakfast sample each morning in December!
My vegan swap box also included the following goodies:
  • The Food Doctor Sweet Chilli Soya & Corn Crisp Thins
  • The Delicatessan Beetroot & Red Onion Chutney
  • The Delicatessan Sicilian Style Sticks
  • Packet of Olives ou Marche
  • Blackfriars Fruit Flapjack
  • Urban Fruit Superberry Mix
  • Pukka Relax Teabag
I'm hoping Sammy loves olives as much as me. I guess you either love them or hate them! I'm a lover of all things olives and I always have some in the fridge or a stand by packet in my cupboards. Sammy is lucky these didn't get gobbled up before I posted them. I also love the Food Doctor crisp thins especially the sweet chilli flavour.

The Beetroot and Red Onion Chutney was once sent to me as part of the vegan swap box and I used mine in a stiry fry which worked out a treat but you could use it as a dip or on crackers with a bit of vegan cheese or houmous. The Sicilian Sticks would work a treat dipped into it!

For the sweet items I included the advent calendar, I don't care how old you are everyone loves an advent calendar. I actually bought two, one for myself!

Another handy store cupboard snack is the Blackfriars flapjacks, I prefer the fruit one but they are rather large and I always cut into two portions so you definitely get your moneys worth. I've just realised I included one of these in last months swap box too!

I've not tried a packet of Urban Fruit Superberry yet, I'm starting to wish I'd bought two of these too, they look rather tasty. Finally but no means least a Pukka Teabag - Relax, which is a blend of organic chamomile, fennel and marshmallow root.

I hope you like your vegan swap box Sammy, and I hope you enjoy your bit of chocolate for every December morning. Is it too early to say Merry Christmas!

Vegan Food Swap Box - October Part 2

Yesterday I blogged about the vegan swap box I sent to Nicky and today I'll be sharing what Helen sent to me.

In my vegan food parcel I received the following:
  • Nairns - Mixed Berry Oat Biscuits
  • Nairns - Fruit & Spice Oat Biscuits
  • Nairns - Stem Ginger Oat Biscuits
  • Yo Yo Bear Apple Fruit Rolls
  • Marks & Spenser Salted Mini Pretzels
  • Suma Spiced Roast Chickpeas
  • Holland & Barrett Japanese Rice Crackers
  • Marks & Spencers Bombay Potatoes Spice Kit
  • Marks & Spencers Re-fried Beans
  • Simon Rimmer Carrot & Coriander Falafel Mix

I think Helen must be physic, as the day my parcel arrived was the day the vegan biscuits ran dry from the biscuit tin at work! So I was chuffed to bits to see that Helen had included three Sasha and Mitsu's blog called tohappyvegans for further information and to subscribe. Its really good fun! Every month you are assigned a partner to send a parcel of vegan goodies to and in return you receive your own parcel of vegan goodies.
different flavours of the Nairns biscuit range. All very yummy I might add. I haven't come across these before but then again I don't tend to visit the biscuit aisle at a supermarket and read the ingredient list on every packet of biscuits! All the vegan biscuits I have come across are through word of mouth or indeed through the vegan food swap box system. If you've never heard of the vegan swap box or indeed want to join in take a trip over to

Another sweet item and a work day treat was the Yo Yo Bear Apple Fruit Rolls, I've not tried this flavour before and it didn't disappoint. Yo Yo Bear do a variety of flavours including strawberry, apple, pineapple, mango, blueberry and raspberry.

The savoury treats were also great, I've only recently been introduced to pretzels by a friend and at first I wasn't a huge fan but now I'm hooked and I don't think that's a good thing either! Helen also included some spiced and roasted chick peas which are great to keep that rumbling tummy at bay, a handful of these baby's just hit the spot, very tasty and kind of healthy :) Finally and by no means at least a packet of Japanese rice crackers. These were always a staple in my graze boxes which I don't do now as the vegan swap box system is much better!

Vegan Food Swap Box - October

It's been a while since I last posted due to a rotten cold, working way too much and just feeling miserable due to my cold, work and the weather! But I'm pleased to say I've finally snapped out of it and this weekend has been a good weekend. My friend (my gardening angel) and I visited the Wolverhampton Vegan Festival, which was awesome. We had a brilliant day even though we ended up like pack donkeys walking to the bus stop after spending probably too much money. But that post is for another day.

This months vegan swap box was once again a delight to be part of and my parcel of vegan goodies was sent to Nicky, who doesn't actually live that far from me.

Today is Nicky's birthday so many happy returns Nicky, I hope you're having a fabulous day!

My vegan swap box for Nicky contained the following goodies:

  • The Food Doctor - Roasted Bean Mix
  • Blue Dragon - Black Bean Stirfry Sauce
  • ASDA Mediterranean Tomato Couscous
  • Kallo Organic Vegetable Stock Cubes
  • Clearspring OrganicBrown Rice Miso Soup Paste
  • The Happy Kitchen Pecan Brownie
  • Blackfriars Fruit Flapjack
  • Yo Yo Bear Pineapple Fruit Rolls
  • Fry's Original Chocolate Cream

Hopefully, I got the mix just right, with a little sweet to go with the savoury. The Fry's chocolate bar is a must, as I've said before I only found out these chocolate bars were vegan through an earlier swap box and I was amazed that they were, so I'm spreading the word, so to speak. Unless, of course I was the only vegan in the world who didn't know they were vegan! To add to the sweet selection I included a blackfriars flapjack (try saying that 10 times fast), which I first saw in my local co-op and bought a load! Since then people have told me they're widely available but I've yet to see them elsewhere. To balance things out I also added a packet of pineapple fruit rolls from Yo Yo Bear and a pecan brownie from Happy Kitchen, another find through the vegan swap box, their website advertises that they use organic ingredients, bonus.

The savoury items included a packet of roasted beans, which are delicious and a more healthier snack than a packet of crisps. I need to take heed of my own advice here! The Food Doctor range is quite expensive, but in my opinion worth it. I also included two further organic foods, the vegetable stock cubes and the very handy store cupboard ingredient a box of Miso Soup Paste. Kallo stock cubes come in a range of flavours, including french onion, mushroom, garlic & herb, tomato & herb as well as a couple of non vegan flavours. They also make Belgian Dark Chocolate Rice Cake Thins which are scrumptious. The other two savoury items are quick go to ingredients to make things easy when you are cooking at night after a long hard day at work; ASDA Mediterranean Tomato Couscous and Blue Dragon Black Bean Stirfry Sauce. The Black Bean sauce is good to have on hand so you can whip up a tofu and green pepper stir fry in no time at all.

I also included three different flavoured tea bags and of course I couldn't let Nicky's birthday pass without a little gift; a dragonfly bag charm, which I bought from a local gift shop. In fact it was where I did my aromatherapy blend course. I quite often pop in to say hi to Maggie and see what little treasures are on offer.

I hope Nicky liked her swap box, tomorrow is a post about what I received from Helen.

Thankful Thursday - Vegan Swap Box & Moussaka

It's Thankful Thursday again and the last one of Vegan Mofo, so I thought it was appropriate to do a post on my fantastic Vegan Swap Box I received earlier this month from Heather.

It was A-M-A-ZING! It was full of vegan goodies which I'm working my way through. If you've not heard about the vegan swap box before take a trip over to To Happy Vegans who organise the whole thing (unfortunately for UK residents only, but I have heard there is other swap boxes organised in other countries). Every month you are assigned a partner to send a parcel of vegan goodies to and in return you receive your own parcel of vegan goodies. It's really good fun and every month you get a parcel to open up and the contents are a complete surprise! Try it and see what you get.

I was lucky enough to get Heather again this month, Heather sent me my last parcel in July (I didn't participate in the August swap box as we were on holiday). Funny enough I got the same person to send to as I did in July, Michaela from Miss Chaela Boo. I'll let you know what I sent to Michaela in tomorrows post.

Don't worry there's a recipe of sorts too! But first here is what Heather sent to me:
  • Co-op After Dinner Mint Thins
  • Sweet Freedom Choc Shot
  • Yu! Jus Fruit Mango
  • Hapiness is Homemade Organic Desiccated Coconut
  • Naked Noodle - Sweet & Sour Flavour
  • Cooks Coatings for Roasties
  • Pureety Gourmet Tangy Tomato, Black Pepper & Thyme Marinade
  • Itsu Miso Soups x 3
  • Jamie Oliver Pink Himalayan Salt
  • Greenfields Ras Al Hanout
  • Tyrrells Habas Fritas - Fried Broad Beans! YAY more beans!
As you can see a real good selection of vegan goodies, aren't I the lucky girl! I was chuffed to bits with the parcel including something bean like and I've used some of these on top of my leek and runner bean soup as croutons! Yummy!

I've never tried pink himalayan salt before, I know, I know where have I been! That's what I love about the vegan swap boxes you get to try stuff you've never had before. The Naked Noodles were enjoyed for lunch at work and I was pleasantly surprised with them. I've tried Sainsbury's own brand of something similar and I was bitterly disappointed with their version. I shall look out for the Naked Noodle brand as it's good to have as a standby lunch at work when you've forgotten to bring your own packed lunch!

I've not yet tried the miso soup, again this is a brand I've not seen before, but I love miso soup! I've not yet tried the roasties coatings either and I'm thinking maybe this Sunday, I'll try it out on my family. I think the marinade will be fabulous over tofu and can't wait to try this. I'm also thinking of making a bean tagine to use the ras al hanout, I have so many ideas and not enough time!

The Co-op Mint Thins were a lovely surprise! It's my sisters birthday on Saturday and we're all going to Mum & Dads on Sunday for lunch so the Mint Thins can be enjoyed by all, I'll make sure I get my fair share though! Heather told me that she's addicted to the Choc shot and every time she goes into the kitchen she eats a teaspoon of it. Well Heather, I'm addicted now too! I've not had chance to use it on anything and I've been doing as you do and sneaking a teaspoon of the gooey chocolate sauce every time I make a cup of tea! I've not seen this before so I'm hunting it down, drop me a line and tell me where you get yours from.

The mango pieces didn't last long either they were gone the day after I received the parcel and enjoyed as a work snack. I'm planning to do some baking once Vegan Mofo is finished and the desiccated coconut will be used then.

All in all I think you'll agree and absolutely fabulous vegan swap box! Thanks Heather I love it!

You'll note that I mentioned that I'll also share a recipe (of sorts) with you today and I'm using some left over from yesterdays meal. As I have no freezer and I'm the only vegan in this household (although Marco is heading that way, he loves his veggies) I only made one portion of the aubergine and bean rolls which meant I had a lot of the aubergine, mushroom and butter bean filling left. I also still had some of the sweet potato "cheese" sauce left over so I put my thinking cap on and decided there was only one thing for it a moussaka.

All I did was slice up another aubergine, yes I bought another one! This is progress! Give an oven proof dish a quick spray of olive oil and add a layer of aubergine slices. Top with some of the aubergine, mushroom and butter bean filling and repeat finishing with a third layer of aubergine slices. Top with a layer of the sweet potato "cheese" sauce and then a layer of thinly sliced potatoes. Finish with another layer of the sauce and bake in a pre-heated oven for 30-40 minutes until the potatoes are soft.

I served mine with chips (naughty I know) and peas, and I must admit I thoroughly enjoyed it. I even went back for another taste as I couldn't believe how good it tasted. I will make this time and time again, its that good!

Apologies for the photo, it doesn't do the dish justice at all, but I was way too hungry and way too excited to try the moussaka, to faff around with photographing it!

In other news, my sister won a cake decorating competition today! Yay! Go sis! I shall ask her if I can publish a photo of the cake and share it with you all. It was fantastic and shaped like a watering can, yep 3D and all!

July Vegan Swap Box - What I Received

I suppose this post is better late than never! If you're a regular reader you will know that I have taken a rest from blogging over the last few weeks, read why, here.

Unfortunately that meant that I never got round to blogging about my June Vegan Swap box from Heather in Manchester, which is a dire shame as it was fabulous. It really was like having a birthday present as Heather had included balloons. These came in handy for Marco's first birthday party! Yes I know a birthday party for a dog - so what?

In Heather's swap box were loads of yummy goodies and included:
  • Dried chillis from the Cool Chilli Company
  • Walkers Sweet Chilli Peanuts
  • The Delicatessen Sweet Chilli Jelly from Tesco
  • Hoisin Stirfry Sauce from the Co-op
  • Unicorn Gravy Mix
  • Unicorn Sesame Sticks
  • Unicorn Garlic Sticks
  • Nakd Cherry Raisins
  • Nakd Strawberry Crunch
  • Nakd Cocoa Orange
  • Happy Kitchen Pecan Brownie
  • Pukka Tea Bag - Peppermint and Liquorice
  • Pukka Tea Bag - Relax
  • Oralet Tea Bag - Traditional
  • Oralet Tea Bag - Earl Grey
  • Kiwi spoon
What a box! I've heard lots about the Cool Chilli Company and I can't  wait to see them at the London vegfest, which I'm so hoping to go to this year. Especially since I missed out on the Brighton and Bristol vegfests!

The Walkers Sweet Chilli Peanuts were the first to be devoured, and that was just after I'd taken the photographs. I'm ashamed to say it but later that night I started the sesame sticks too. I did hold off eating them all in one go though although they didn't last the week! The garlic sticks were also yummy and these were devoured on a camping trip in Dorset whilst playing cards - Cribbage.

I absolutely love the Strawberry Crunch Nakd bar it is without doubt my favourite one, closely followed by the cocoa orange flavour which was my favourite until the Strawberry Crunch came out! Both of these along with the Nakd cherry raisins were eaten as work snacks but not in the same day of course. That would be a bit piggy!

I used the sweet chilli jam in a stir fry believe it or not, hubby actually said it was the best stir fry I had cooked him, he's not a great lover of stir fry's full stop! It's just a shame that I didn't write down what I did or what I used! It was a make up as you go along tea which a lot of my cooking is. Sometimes they turn out well and other times the bin (or compost heap) gets the food! On this occasion we were both so hungry that I didn't even have pen and paper at the ready let alone write down what I was doing! Oh well, it's a recipe that I shall have to try and recreate one day and post here.

I've yet to try the gravy browning, pecan brownie and the peppermint and liquorice tea, but give me time and they will all be tried.

You can read about what I sent my swap box partner, Miss Chaela-Boo on her blog, she has given me an awesome write up. Thanks Miss Chaela-Boo!

You really must check out her blog, her paintings are fabulous.

Vegan Mofo is only around the corner and a quick update on the bean front. I have harvested yet more beans from my garden this morning, they keep on coming . . .

May Vegan Food Swap - What I Sent

A week ago I told you about the amazing goodies that I received from Lucy the Vegan in the May vegan swap box. I had been partnered up with Dan who works for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).

PETA is a well worthy charity, infact I don't know why I'm not a member already. But this has been resolved and I am now a fully fledged member and my donation is already doing some good to help protect animals.

Please check out their website it is full of information some which you may find distressing, but we can't close our eyes to what is happening, we need to help PETA put a stop to what happens to our fellow creatures.

PETA have a free vegan starter kit too which I downloaded, it is full of useful information and gives you links to some tasty recipes. You can also find some tasty recipes here, just click on the recipe tab and it will give you a list of all the dishes I have posted.

Now, I can imagine Dan is extremely busy and sometimes the last thing you want to do when you get home is cook up a feast so I thought I would add some ingredients to his vegan swap box so that he can rustle up a tasty vegan meal in no time at all. I also included some sweet and savoury snacks that Dan can keep at work for those times when you just need a little something. And to round it off I included some chocolate. I hope Dan likes my vegan swap box, I enjoyed putting it together.

In my vegan swap box I included the following items:
  • Sharwoods Thai Green Curry paste
  • A Box of Pure Creamed Coconut
  • A Packet of Silken Tofu
  • Uncle Ben's Basmati and Thai Rice
  • A Sesame Bar
  • A Peanut Bar
  • A Packet of Pitted Green Olives with Chilli
  • A Packet of Hot Chilli Potato Hoops
  • A Packet of Graze 'Wasapea'
  • Kallo Organic Belgian Dark Chocolate Rice Cake Thins
  • Hale & Hearty Deliciously Wholesome Date & Chocolate Flapjack
I saw the Thai Green Curry Paste in Sainsbury's and I bought some for myself too, which I haven't used yet but will do soon. I don't think you can go wrong with having some olives to hand, they are a delicious healthy snack, but I think you either love or hate them and I hope Dan is an olive lover! I normally include a Graze box with my swap but this time I decided against it and instead I just added one packet from my latest Graze box, wasapea.

My favourite treat at the moment is the Hale and Hearty Deliciously Wholesome Date and Chocolate Flapjack. It really is delicious and I can't get enough of them at the moment. They are a little on the expensive side but so worth it. The Belgian Chocolate Rice Cake Thins were provided in a previous swap box I received and they are now a staple food cupboard item in our household.

To see what I received from Lucy the Vegan check out this post.

May Vegan Food Swap - What I Received

I can't believe that its time for another vegan food swap box, it comes around so quickly, which isn't a bad thing as I'm always excited to see what I will receive and I love putting together a box for a total stranger. If you've never heard of this before it's something that To Happy Vegans organise and every month you are assigned a partner to send a parcel of vegan goodies to and in return you receive your own parcel of surprise delights!

This month Lucy from Lucy the Vegan blog sent me a parcel of goodies, which included the following delights:
  • Hot Wasabi Soya and Corn Crisp Thins by the Food Doctor
  • Marks & Spencer Refried Beans
  • Primal Strip - Meatless Vegan Jerky Seitan - Teriyaki
  • Primal Strip - Meatless Vegan Jerky Soy - Chicory Smoked
  • Bounce Natural Energy Ball - Spirulina & Ginseng Defence Boost
  • Ombar - Acai & Blueberry Chocolate
  • Yu! Jus Fruit- Blueberry Pieces
  • Yu! Jus Fruit- Cherry Pieces
  • Trek Cocoa Coconut Protein Flapjack
As you can see it was a real parcel of goodies, so far I've tried the hot wasabi soya and corn crisp thins, which were very hot indeed! I didn't eat them all in one sitting they were that hot! Even hubby thought they were hot and he eats vindaloo curries. The wasabi really does catch the back of your nose when you eat them, but that's not to say that I didn't like them, I did.

I've also tried the Ombar which was delicious, I could really taste the blueberries, vegan chocolate as it contains no milk can be very bitter, but this was quite the opposite and very sweet, mmmmm delicious.

Lucy has sent me a box full of goodies that not only haven't I tried before but I've never seen before and I can't wait to try everything else in the parcel. I'm thinking something Mexican for tea so I can use the refried beans.

Thanks Lucy I loved your swap box, I hope you received a fantastic one too.

March Vegan Food Swap - What I received

I was looking forward to receiving my second vegan food swap box as the first was fabulous, and once again I wasn't disappointed.

Hannah from hannahbananabakery sent me my vegan box of goodies this time, check out her vegan creme egg tutorial on her blog.

I received a mixture of sweet and savoury produce which included miso soup, mayonnaise, parsley and chocolate.

The chocolate consisted of mini moos honey comb bars, Vanoffe raw cocao confectionary and a Raw Choc Brownie. I dived straight into the honey comb mini moos! Before turning vegan Crunchy was one of my favourite treats. I've heard great things about the raw choc foods and I'm sure before the day is out I will have tried one of the other chocolate bars!

I have tried the solesse mayonnaise before and I must admit I wasn't a huge fan of it, but that was a long time ago and I'm willing to give it another go. My favourite vegan mayonnaise is made by Tiger Tiger and the garlic version is incredible. I sent my vegan swap box partner one, I hope she liked it. Another item I sent my vegan swap box partner was Miso soup and Hannah sent me one too. Great minds think alike. I always have a packet of miso soup in the cupboard its a good thing to have on hand.

You can never have enough dried parsley, I have a whole cupboard full of herbs and spices as well as 2 (yes 2) spice racks. I don't own one herb or spice twice and I'm always delving into them. The last item Hannah provided was Kallo organic vegetable stock, which I've never tried before.

Thanks Hannah, I shall enjoy eating all of my vegan swap box goodies.
